CAO’s Family Medical Centers Among the Top 10 in the State for Quality Health Care

The Family Medical Centers (FMC), operating under the Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization, has been named as one of the top 10 health centers in the state of Ohio for 2019 among other awards.

FMC was recognized as a Health Center Quality Leader, a designation only given to 10 of the 45 regional health centers in the state of Ohio. This recognition goes to centers that have achieved the best overall performance among all health centers for clinical quality measures in 2018. FMC was also recognized as having maintained a Patient Center Medical Home (PCMH) designation and recognized for their Advancing of Health Information Technology.

In 2019, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced nearly $107 million in Quality Improvement Awards to be given to health centers across the country.  Out of 46 health centers in Ohio, the Family Medical Centers were named one of 12 to receive over $100,000 for improving their quality of care between 2017 and 2018. FMC will use these one-time grant funds to expand its achievements in clinical quality improvement, care delivery efficiency, and the overall value of health care in Lawrence County.
